About Us
History Of Crosstown Baseball
Crosstown Baseball, founded in 2013 by Dave Epplen and his family, emerged from frustrations with restrictive residency rules in other leagues. Our inclusive approach welcomes players from various locations, fostering a love for baseball. With teams spanning cities, schools, churches, and independents from KY and OH, Crosstown provides diverse playing opportunities.
In the winter 2022 we unfortunately lost a very dear friend and supporter of Crosstown Baseball, Clayton Plageman. He was a friend, an umpire and our umpire scheduler. Clayton was an umpire that when he stepped onto the field, he called a fair game and took the time to educate the players. Clayton will forever be in our hearts and memories.
In the spring of 2023, we unfortunately lost the founder of Crosstown Baseball, Dave Epplen. Dave was a mentor, a coach, a friend, an umpire, and a person that had 65 years of baseball experience. Dave would do anything for anyone when it came to baseball, if a kid needed a glove or bat, Dave would find a way to get them one. Dave trained our umpires for years and worked closely with Clayton on scheduling. Dave will never be forgotten and will forever be a part of Crosstown Baseball.
In 2024, the board launched the "Reviving Baseball in the Tri-State" campaign, introducing Bronze and Gold Divisions, aiming to uphold our mission of fostering baseball enjoyment among kids. We want to see kids playing baseball and enjoying America's favorite pastime.
